CHORAL MUSIC -(1 Credit)


The Choir classes are designed to teach the student basic singing skills with a balance of songs and singing instruction to help develop musical literacy and artistic vocal expression. The student will be taught proper vocal technique, confident vocal production, expressive singing and enjoyable music making. Students will learn a large repertoire of songs to perform in concert as well as for the community and school competitions. The students are also coached in solo, duet and small ensemble work as well. Concert performance is required in all three choirs:

Concert Choir (Mixed Choir)
Women’s Chorus (Uniform purchase required.)
Madrigals (Audition only choir. Uniform purchase required.)


CLASS VOICE - (0.5 Credit)

Enrollment opened to students interested in developing solo-singing abilities. The class will act as a group voice lesson designed to exercise and improve vocal ability. Students must be willing to sing solo, work independently, and be motivated towards self-improvement. Grades will be based on participation in class lessons, personal improvement, and participation at recitals. Music books purchase required.

INSTRUMENTAL ENSEMBLE/JAZZ - (1 Credit)

Students enrolled in this class must play an instrument. The student will develop skills necessary to play the instrument of choice with facility and skill. These skills will include, but are not limited to, register development, breath control, technical facility, scale development, embouchure development, artistic expression, and instrumental care. This will be accomplished through in-class practice and ensemble playing. All will be expected to perform in a recital/concert setting. Students will be graded on participation and personal improvement.
