HEALTH: (.5 CREDIT)

The goal of health education is to help the student achieve a complete healthy life style. To accomplish this focus is placed on having a balance of mental, physical, and social health. Sexual education is also a part of the core curriculum, but is optional. Topics discussed in class related to sexual education strictly follow Utah State Law and the Utah State Board of Education.

 

PARTICIPATION SKILLS TECHNIQUES: (.5 CREDIT)

This class is designed to develop competency in up to five different activities. Competency involves the ability to apply the basic skills, strategies, and rules using standardized guidelines or rubrics. Course activities present an extension of content in previous classes. The curriculum provides diverse offerings to meet the individual needs of all students.

 

FITNESS FOR LIFE : (.5 CREDIT)

This one-semester course is designed to give students the knowledge and skills necessary to self-assess, create, conduct, evaluate, and redesign personal fitness programs. This course is a combination of classroom and activity-based learning activities with a focus on proper nutrition and the mastery of skills and concepts necessary for students to become accomplished monitors of their personal lifetime fitness. Through participation, students learn to compare the fitness benefits in a variety of individual and team activities.
