DESERT STARS For Immediate Release: Tuacahn opens Registration for Youth Musical Theatre Camp
“Desert Stars” began as the little brother/sister program of Tuacahn's Summer Theatre Institute and registration has quadrupled over the past two years. Kids from 6 – 14 spend three hours a day for a week rotating between coaches spending an hour with an acting coach, an hour with a vocal coach and an hour putting it all together with a choreographer and director. Each session is taught by professional artists from the Tuacahn casts of Les Miserables , The Sound of Music and teachers aides from this years cast of Disney's High School Musical . As a result, the camp moves quickly and culminates in a fun musical revue and a shared performance on the last day with the High School Musical cast for all their families. All sessions of the camp this summer will emphasize the three musicals that are being produced by Tuacahn this year. Students will learn music from High School Musical, Les Mis and The Sound of Music. “You couldn't ask for a more well-rounded study of musical theatre this year, because you have music and dance from something modern that the kids are totally familiar with, something classical with an incredible message and something traditional,” says program director, Jan Shelton Hunsaker. Registration for this extraordinary experience is $125 and includes 17 hours of instruction, a t-shirt, daily refreshment breaks, a backstage tour and talk-backs with cast members from all three shows. Tuacahn High School 's Educational Outreach program is happy to announce registration for their “Desert Stars” youth musical theatre camp. “Desert Stars” will be held in two sessions, the first from July 14 – 19 and the second from July 28 – Aug. 2, 2007. Morning groups are for kids ages 11 - 14 and the afternoon group is for kids ages 6 - 10.
