Admission Policy

Tuacahn High School Student Admission Policy

Tuacahn High School for the Performing Arts is a public charter school, open for admission to all Utah high school student's grades 9-12. All students must apply for admission. Once admitted, returning students must also supply a written statement of intent if they plan to return as a continuing student. The following time-lines/guidelines will apply to the admission policy:

October 1st

No students are admitted to THS after October 1st of the current school year. Tuacahn High School will begin collecting applications for the following school year (one year in advance). For example: Students applying for admission for the 2014-2015 school year can apply after October 1st, 2013.

Application Deadline

(Rule 53A-1a-506.5). The application deadline is the first Friday in February. Notification will be made on the second Friday of February. Additional lotteries may be held to fill open student vacancies.

14 Day Rule

Written notice of acceptance or denial of an application sent to parents from Tuacahn High School must be made within fourteen days of notification of acceptance. If transferring from another school, written notice will be made by Tuacahn High School to a student's current charter/district high school or upon acceptance of enrollment at Tuacahn High School (Rule 53A-1a-506.5iv). This date also applies to returning students. Enrollment is only guaranteed when registration forms have been completed and a $50 non-refundable processing charge is received. Students will have 30 days to complete the registration process before their slot is given to another student in the lottery pool.

April 30th

Acceptance must be received after the admission acceptance offer from the student's parents to Tuacahn High School by established deadlines and procedures.

Post April 30th

Transfers/New Students: Students wishing to enroll/transfer to or from Tuacahn High School prior to October 1st, must submit the following:

A letter of authorization from the Principal/Vice Principal of the "transfer out" school indicating approval of the transfer and a letter of acceptance of the "transfer in" school Principal or Vice Principal.
